[Flashback-STAR] Call to Theo Bell about the Catch'

Star left Bruno's office with more of a idea of where best her efforts could be used. Star was no stranger to having to get her hands dirty, and actually preferred to be active on the street then sitting back in a office letting others do her work for her.

She puzzled over the whole  Cathayans issue, and wondered just where she should start. Though that was quite obvious to the young Ventrue, she would need to contact the Sheriff Theo Bell.
After all he was the last to deal with the Cathayans and might have some insight in their whereabouts and movements.

Star knew 1st before anything, she would have to see if the Cathayans made good on their promised meeting with the Prince.
And if they have been given permissions to stay in the Princedom.

Though Star wondered even with such a primission would the Cathayans stick to their word and cease all of their drug-related activity. Star doubted this because they had not contacted her or Bruno.
Something seemed dangerously off, but Star did not want to jump to conclusions before she had more info.

"Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups of course!" she thought as she picked up her Cell and made a Call to Theo.

The phone was never answered-

Being that there was no answer from Bell's cell. Star left a voice message (if he as one) just telling him to call her if he gets a moment.

Star then would head back to the Ivory tower to check around if Theo was there.
If not, she would head to the Union office to do some research

Theo texts back.
"Meet me at the Ivory basement."

Star made a soft "tch" sound upon hearing this. There was perhaps of prejudice park within herself that didn't believe the Cath would keep to their word.

Star's Criminal Mind was already at work thinking that if she was in their situation how she could go about bending the so-called "truce-Alliance" and bend the rules just enough not to have any blame cast back her way.

" ....hummm really now. Well forgive me Sheriff if I dont believe that. "
She said in a very dead-pan tone, holding none of her usual humor in her voice.

"Now I dont want to sound paranoid or heaven forbid a naysayer to this ... "illustrious Alliance" between the Cam' and them.
But what is stopping them from going through a third party much in the way that you would money launder drugs?

The Cath's do business with a outside source. Let's say a low-level Street gangs like the Cubans or the Rastafarians? Or hell.. Make it a vampiric affair and have the camarilla chasing their tail! , Do dealings with even... Oh I dont know  let's go as far as the Setties, Giovanni or any Sabbat pack. Get them to push their March' for them in OUR territory! all they would have to say is that they sold within their boundaries alliwed by our Prince. They did nothing wrong! They had no control ocer what their buyer did after the product was sold... It was all a third-party's fault. All the while  orchestrating things behind the scenes. The Cam' would be deal this 3ed or even 4th party, mudding any papwr trail back to the Cath'. They had nothing to do with it they could say. If they cover their tracks well enough it would be no proof, it would all be circumstantial.

There was definitely an untrusting tone enstars voice, one might even say there was a level of snobbish prejudice. But Star did have a point.

"I'm sorry Sheriff, I hope I'm wrong and just being paranoid"

Theo dry tone of voice replied.
"As far as I am concern the Union portfolio includes every non asian gang in the City. Hence Enforce it and let me tell you that you have the Princedom full support in that task."

Star found herself stuttering in a slight bit of shock for a moment. She replayed Theo's acknowledgment of her concerns and having a valid point over and over again in her head.
"Wait...what??"
She thought, her mind racing to grasp what she just heard from the Sheriff.

Star expected Theo to simply dismiss her as being paranoid, or overly thinking the whole thing. Never in a million years did she think that he would take her seriously, let alone say that she have the support of the Princedom behind her.

" ...I...um...ah. Um.. Yes.. YES Thank you. "
She quickly corrects, though hiding her shock at being validated rather poorly.
" ...that means a lot. After all my greatest desire is to protect this Princedom . I will use what resources are at my disposal to do just that. I pray that my assumptions about the Asians are wrong. But nevertheless I will be prepared.
Thank you Sheriff Bell for your support."
Star knew she would have to keep a eye on the Cath' , not such a easy task. But if she had the princedoms support as Bell stated she knew she could do all she could to protect her home.
"" if you could Sheriff keep the Union in the loop as dar as any " suspected" Cath' activity  is concerned, I will do my best to investigate and keep an eye on them through the streets. "

Star now had a mission I'm her mind, to gather Intel' through gang contacts around the area the Cath' would do buisnes in.
This means she would definitely have to hit the streets and get her hands dirty.
Lucky for her she had a new skill set with her disciplines that could aid her in making some valuable "gang" & "drug" contacts.

Theo replies.
"Very well Eiren. For the moment is all the information I can share with you but I will keep in touch. Have a good night."

Then he hangs.

Star stood in the hallway of the grand hall,  completely in shock, she staired at the cell phone in her hands almost in complete disbelief of the conversation she just had.

Someone as important and powerful as the Sheriff Theo Bell was giving her full support to help protect the Princedom, her HOME. If she had the blush active, a tear would have fallen from her eyes.

She was in shock that he did not simply dismiss her concerns as ether she was being  "paranoid" or "she was just young and didn't know any better".

Star kind of slumped back against the hallway wall, understand that she had not only a true duty, but the ability to protect those that needed her. Star had evolved so much from that dirty little sabbat street rat a year or so ago, now into a true Ventrue, with a purpose.
Star felt empowered and she now knew what she must do.


In the nights that followed, Star would infiltrate the local gangs around the areas that the Cath' now occupy. Star would try to keep tabs on them and their movements. Mostly seeing if the people they sold to "flipped" the merchandise and reported back to the Catch'. She was of course very patient and cautious. She would monitor any drug transactions that she got wind of and start to try to manipulate the human gangbangers and drug dealers to be her eyes and ears.
If the Asians were indeed going to traffic through a third-party she wanted to know about it.
