Sept of the Green Caern Empty Sept of the Green Caern

A LITTLE HISTORY...
in the early days of New York when it went by the name New Amsterdam a pilgrim known as Peter Minuit, or Midnight in English, bought the territories of nowdays Manhattan island from the Lenape Tribe. The bargain of the island was done in exchange for a couple of dollars to everyone's surprise.

On the side of the conquerors many thought low of the native as ignorant or simply opportunistic and in the side the native Tribes the Lenape were shocked that the white people wanted a cursed land like that as their own. Not even a century ago the Wendigo buried in the Heart of Manhattan one of the most powerful Maeljin that had manifested on Earth, conjuring a powerful ritual to imprison him and then drain him of his power by constructing a Caern on top of his prison.

That knowledge was kept in secret by both the Wendigo and the Lenape and the Wyrm comers thought of these superstitions and none sense, typical of these undeveloped tribes. The Silverfang came along with the Settlers of Manhattan and struggled with the Wendigo to take the Caern from them. None trusted each other enough so the battle was fierce, on the Wendigo side to protect the Caern and the Seal; and the Silverfang of course conquering these lands from the weak natives to expand their Empire and recreate the Impegrium once more.

The Silverfangs kept this sanctum for generations, they hold with a strong grip to the most powerful Caern in the East Coast, repleted of Gnosis and host of the most powerful spirits the world had seen, even some of Gaia's Incarna like Selene manifested from time to time, on special seasonal occasions. Until a powerful Bone Gnawer Pack simply known as the Marrow-Eaters plotted against them and finally took control from the debilitated Fangs still recovering from the harsh consequences of World War I and the Great Depression of the 1930s, when many bumps and street rats turned their attention to the sewer system and thrive until becoming a huge army of Bone Gnawers and their Kinfolk.

The original name was the Little White Feet Sept but later was changed to simply the Sept of the Green and is until today the most important Bone Gnawer stronghold in the World.

Sept of the Green Caern Empty Re: Sept of the Green Caern

Regarding it's specific location, the Sept of the Green stands in the center of Central Park in New York City at the Great Oval Lawn.

In 1856, New York City government set aside an 800-acre area on Manhattan Island for a park, reasoning that the area was impossible to bring business into. Construction of Central Park began in 1858, and continued through 1874. The two most responsible for the design and process, Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmstead, are two unknowing Kinfolk, whose designs permitted the Sept of the Green to survive the transition.

The Sept of the Green is unique in that it has no single Living Area, nor even a general theme. There are many. Generally speaking, the Bone Gnawers sleep and make their “dens” all over the Park (bums can do that). The other tribes maintain communal apartments and residents in the buildings around central park (mostly on Central Park North/Harle, and Central Park West) for their poorer members; wealthy Garou of course have their own.

The rituals and gatherings of the tribes is often done in the Umbra, still the Caern has an underground groove originally burrowed by the Wendigo and crystallized with spiritual magic to Keep the Heart of the Caern protected. In it's deepest part the groove is about sixty feet deep but most corridors are very shallow and their entrances are frequently concealed under Trash Cans, The trashcan is one of the Tribe’s most prized possessions (and has served many other Garou of all tribes well)… The Moldy Grail.

Though the Bone Gnawers don’t “officially” require Chiminage to travel around the Caern/Bawn, a gift of empty fast food cups or boxes is never a bad thing to bring. A spirit of plenty dwells in The Moldy Grail, and attuned Bone Gnawers can activate it. Whatever empty containers are placed inside are refilled with whatever they contained prior to being thrown away (so long as the retail value is less than $10). After this is done once, the container is “spent” and cannot be used again. For obvious reasons, the tribe (and some of other tribes) can be found here at mealtimes.

If the Moldy Grail is properly honored and the Great Heap of Trash gives it's blessing to the offerer it's bottom opens allowing the visitor to enter the underground facilities where they can partake with the rest of the Garou present in the sacred side of the Caern. While using Wyrm tainted food containers like O’Tolley’s fast food opens the bottom of the Trash Can directly to the City sewer system and there to the Hudson outside of the Park.

There are approximately 30 Garou affiliated to the Sept, 5 packs and a number of elders, office holders and lone wolves. As a Caern of Fellowship and because of the Bone Gnawer’s open door policy there are always transient Garou partaking of the Sept’s hospitality and it often hosts meetings between other septs and protectorates.
