Many bystanders have theorized about Heralds for many years, the religious ones think of them like Angel while secular and agnostic like the universal force approach, even some skeptics of those two approaches struggle to define them as a supernatural force at all, considering conspiracy theories from UFO abduction to secret government experiments to control the plagues that crawl on the streets at night.

The truth, however, is not a matter of opinion, things are regardless of the common opinion of people about it. The problem lays in the evidence, that is at best inconsistent and sometimes contradictory. Hence multiple interpretations are possible.

The Arcanum has one of the most representative interpretations so far, their observations and wisdom has made them assets to some Imbued that Hunt the supernatural, although such practice has been discrete and pedagogical rather than interfering in the supernatural's affairs. In their experience most accurate testimonies are in Dr Frederick Alsen's diary, a german Bystander with fifty years of experience with the so called 'Hunters' in his records were systematically describe eleven Herald's Apparitions, further analyzed and consulted to get a more reliable interpretation.

The German Lodge of Twisted Patterns one of their most respected branches in Berlin studied the Imbued for fifteen years, tracking the evidence with more sophisticated tools like the Eye of Vezunos that allows to scry back in time for many decades if necessary and other detectors of Tapestry alterations that usually are associated to supernatural manifestations in an area.

Of the eleven cases of study only two threw impressive results:

The first case is Amanda Blicker from Geneva, back in 1901. She experience a religious experience in an small chapel outside of her home city. The small flat building had only one wing a few wooden benches and many christian icons and passages from the bible represented in modest pieces of art done by the community around that built the Chapel with their own hands.

This chapel fortunately was still standing in modern times and it was flawlessly conserved by the Church. The descriptions made by Alsen fit perfectly the German Lodge's and they obtained the necessary permits to investigate the premises at night. What they found with the Help of the Eye was a materialized Angelique figure standing in front of Amanda Blicker that at some point of the Scry turned to look into the Arcanum operative's eyes.

The second case occurred in Brussels in 1935, a veteran from WWI named Bruno Levine was working as a police officer. In his report of that night, still in the Belgium police records, he describes the assault to a maid done by a masculine tall pale black haired suspect that he engaged and scared away.

The report given to his most personal friend Anna Bouer who later would become a Bystander connected to Alsen over the years, was quite different: conclusively this was the attack of a vampire that he actually engaged with a stick that started glowing like the sun in his hand before striking to dust the humanoid attacker. The maid was unconscious when a light made human figure appeared before him and identified itself as a Herald from the One True God. In the description were no iconoclastic symbols that could point out which religion was preferred but still the monotheistic connotation was clear.

The conclusion in the Lodge opinion Alsen personal secular preference and his accurate descriptions, that could be later verified on the field, are trustworthy and more reliable than other found so far, with less religious interpretations. Leading to conclude these so called Heralds are related to some divine origin.
