Under construction (Barton)

Barton snarled faintly and pursed out his lower lip and slowly rose. His teeth ground together as he forgot his humanity. Barton felt a powerful urge to break out in a run, to just run.... To where he did not know, but every muscle in his frame grew tense. There was no right nor wrong in this state, only instinct. A calm and collected- yet dangerous instinct. The boy cub had stopped suckling, he now was ready to progress onward. Barton forgot his family, Amanda, where he came from, even Xavier in this moment. Barton lost the fear he felt, he instead felt freedom. His form stiff and his muscles hardened- like tempered steel. He started to move from the cave, following his instincts.

Each step grew faster, his slow trance like walk growing to a brisk walk... Then as he followed his instincts he hunched over and arched his back moving into a slow jog... Barton's eyes grew wider and the new found strength fueled him steadfast and true. Soon Barton was running, his jaw lowering as if on instinct. Barton sank lower and leaped over a boulder he would have tripped over normally. Barton's strong slender hands scrapped the boulders surface and as his feet hit... He crouched down and looked behind him then slowly towards the entrance of the cave.

His lower lip curled and he jolted forward, his knuckles scrapping the ground a minute.. As he rose up he ventured toward the left side of the cave and hit a indention in the ground. On instinct he rolled as he fell and came to rest on all fours. Barton narrowed his eyes and closed his jaw as his head tilted... He listened once more then with a feral growl he rose and broke back into a softer jog... He did not feel like walking but running and as the entrance of the cave came into view he slowed and crept to the entrance. Barton's eyes gleamed brightly in the quiet dark. Barton's upper lip continued to quiver.....

Barton moved through the forest with steady steps, his naked feet against the mud and soil was a fantastic sensation, the smell of the wet wood and animals around him, the sensorial experience was exhilarating. As he ran he felt more and more in touch with nature around him, he was the ultimate predator and all creatures around him knew that by instinct, running away from his path in fear. Leaping over creeks, passing under fallen trees, walking steady over wet slippery rocks, he felt like a panter, like a wolf in his domains, no natural impediment was enough to slow his pass. After a few minutes of running in the wild he felt the presence of another predator, taunting him to engage. In front of him over a cage formed by rocks and fallen branches a creature, half human half animal landed. The creature was naked and femenine according to her genitalia, but it's body was muscular and ape like in its motions. After landing pointing at Barton with one of its long fingers the creature said. "You shall not pass..." then leaping forward to fly over Barton again into the air.

Barton paused as he looked to the female creature, Barton snarled in an animalistic manner,

"And.... Who says this...... Who denies me passage...."


Barton held his ground and was strong in his voice though not arrogant. The beast inside which had taken him as he ran, spoke for him it seemed.

Barton crouched down and slowly slipped the shard of rock between his middle and ring finger, the sharp tip emerging between his fingers. Barton lowered to the ground, so the swooping fiend would have to venture lower to the ground. Barton arched back up his neck and studied the creature.. His initial response was feral but the more he looked at the creature, the more he began to realize it's features.

Barton calmed himself and shifted his weight from side to side as to keep a watch at around himself. Barton was beginning to think once more and while there was fear, Barton thought on the trials he had been through. This fiend was not nearly as frightening as Xavier.

"Listen now... I' been to hell an' back. Don't.... I'm... EXPECTED.."

Barton snarled as he attempted to talk to the rat with wings.

He knew he had to move or take the hit and he attempted to step to the side. Barton was not one to act so brashly, besides he did not have the option to attack. Nor did he know the strength of the creature. Barton took the best action he could in the moment. Barton still clinched the shard of rock between his knuckles, as he made the attempt to move from the vicious blow of the Harpy.

The creature made a strange sound, between a roar and a screech.
"AAaaaaghhhh....!!!" and made its swipe.

Barton felt the thing's claws ragging his skin.

Barton howled loudly as he reacted to the swipe, He felt the claws strike him and he heard a loud rip. The powerful blow shook him to the core and he felt a surge of anger well up from inside of him. Barton had attempted to be civil with the creature, but the creature crossed the line. Nobody threatened him, especially a stranger. Barton lost his easy going nature at this action, it was life or death.

Barton was reminded of his beatings when he was younger, the older boys of the Hollow beating him up. Barton felt that same anger ten-fold. He thought of each blow, each word that had followed. Barton found that black dog he held at bay inside of him. He could hear the names.. He remembered and his muscles grew tense, his teeth ground together and he snarled loudly,

"I'M NOT YOUR WHIPPIN' BOY!!!!! GRAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! IT AIN'T HAPPENIN' AGAIN CARL!!!! YOU WANT DESTRUCTION!!!!"


Barton did not remember the last time he felt so angry, he had not been so in a long time. All the events that had happened, caused his aggressive nature to come unleashed.

Barton saw the Harpy circling around for another swipe. He would make the enemy bring the fight to him on his terms. A fair backwoods fight, he remembered the words of Xavier. Though he was angry he used his head and to allow the creature free flight he would be hindering himself.

Barton was not the strongest but he had smarts. Barton crouched down and made his way to the trees, a thick tree line. The tall trees would not make swooping so easy, so he thought. He knew when to run and when to stand, this was the time to better his odds. For Barton there was no shame in making things "even"

Barton rushed over to the obstruction, to prevent the beast from direct attack.

Barton made his way to the closest tree, in this zone the tall abets were too close to eachother, making it difficult for the harpy to fly at will. Still the creature didn't bailed in her intention, diving into Barton, even if she couldn't fly up again so easily.

Barton was surrounded by tree's and those talons were not friendly.... Barton figured after swooping down, it would be hell to get out of the thicket. Barton muttered under his breath,

"Bide your time, Barton... Catfish take a while ta bite...."


Barton saw the Harpy mindlessly attack and being among the brush and brambles he would take his chances with another dodge. The damn beast was quick and Barton was aware of the speed. Barton knew though, if he pulled this off.. It was game on... Barton made his way to the next best position, which was not in the death zone (middle of the path). That was the kill zone in most areas of life, especially hunting. It was harder to hit when more debris was in the way. He moved from the Kill zone.

The creature was flurrying in front of Barton, throwing swipes at him carelessly of his attacks.

The creature threw its first swipe against Barton.

Barton saw the beast and knew that it was still anxious to get at him. Barton had the beast growing furious. Barton agitated the winged monster further and dodged the first attack, he prayed he would be swift enough in his own. It was time to see how tough this creature was after all. Barton knuckled up.

The creature swinged it's arm swiping over Barton's head, he dodged going under the creature's arms collading with its wing. The situation was confusing for a second, for the both of them but Barton was quicker and he rapidly hurried to kick the beast belly.

Barton missed the first swipe and snarled as he saw the gut of the monster revealed. With a strong forceful kick Barton let out a low roar. He snarled loudly as he attempted to drive his foot through the gut of the animalistic rat with wings. The kick was not like others he had thrown before, much more powerful. Barton knew he had strong legs and a kick might get the brawl started right and proper. Barton prayed he was not rusty.

The creature moved quickly, leaving the kick in the air and then against the closest tree. Barton felt the impact and thought for a second that his attack had landed but he was wrong, something he realized after feeling the creatures second swipe's impact on his chest.
